The festival was held from November 11 through November 16, screening fiction films, documentaries, experimental films and animations from more than 100 countries. The festival's Best Film Award went to Mohammad-Reza Farzad's Misplaced , which also won him the event's Honorable Mention.

FRANKLIN—Courtland resident Marguerite Leathers is doing her part to stimulate the local economy. Leathers won the Franklin-Southampton Area Chamber of Commerce's shop-at-home slogan contest with "Put your money where your home is." The winning phrase was revealed at Thursday night's Business Expo at the Paul D. Camp Workforce Development Center.

STORRS, Conn. Connecticut officials are auctioning off rescued and rehabilitated horses that were cared for by staff and inmates at the Gates Correctional Facility in Niantic. The auction is being held Saturday at the University of Connecticut's Horse Barn Hill Arena in Storrs. Up for bid are 14 miniature horses, six quarter horses, one Arabian mare, one Morgan-Arab mare, six horses owned by UConn and four goats.

This week, cars and trucks were bumper to bumper coming onto the island for Manitoulin hunting season. We estimated almost 7,000 hunters converging on the island   -Allan Boyd
